As a parent, we understand that taking your child to the dentist can sometimes feel like a daunting task. The thought of seeing your little one anxious or scared can stir up emotions of apprehension and concern.

Rest assured, at The Barn Dental Clinic, we’re here to reassure you and your child that visiting the dentist doesn’t have to be a frightening experience.

It’s an essential step in maintaining their oral health and ensuring their smile stays bright and healthy for years to come. In this blog, we’ll share four expert tips to help you prepare your child for their first trip to the dentist, making the experience smooth, comfortable, and even enjoyable for both of you.

Understanding Children’s Dentistry

Children’s dentistry plays a crucial role in laying the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.

Unfortunately, it’s common for children’s dental hygiene to be overlooked or neglected, leading to potential issues down the road.

At The Barn Dental Clinic, we recognise the importance of early dental care and strive to make each visit a positive and stress-free experience for both parents and children alike.

Our dedicated dental therapist, Holly, takes great pleasure in looking after our pediatric patients, making each appointment a special and memorable occasion for kids and parents alike.

During their visit, children will receive personalised attention and guidance from Holly, who takes the time to chat with them about their dental habits, discuss the importance of a healthy diet for their teeth, and provide tips on proper toothbrush techniques.

As a token of our appreciation, each child will also receive an activity pack to take home, filled with fun goodies to keep them engaged and excited about their dental care routine.

We understand that visiting the dentist can be intimidating for children, which is why we go the extra mile to create a welcoming and supportive environment where kids can feel comfortable and at ease.

4 Tips to Prepare Your Child for Their First Trip to the Dentist

Start Early and Keep It Positive

Introducing your child to the dentist at an early age sets the stage for a lifetime of good oral health habits. Schedule their first dental appointment as soon as their first tooth emerges, or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

Keep the tone upbeat when talking to your child about the dentist, highlighting the importance of taking care of their teeth and how the dentist is there to help keep their smile healthy and bright.

Role-play at Home

One effective way to ease your child’s fears about visiting the dentist is through role-play at home.

Set up a pretend dental visit using their favourite toys as patients and play the role of the dentist yourself. Use a toothbrush to “examine” their toys’ teeth, demonstrating what will happen during their real dental appointment.

Encourage them to ask questions and express any concerns they may have, reassuring them every step of the way.

Read Books About Going to the Dentist

Books can be powerful tools for preparing children for new experiences, including their first trip to the dentist.

Look for age-appropriate books about visiting the dentist and read them together with your child.

Choose books with colourful illustrations and positive messages that highlight the importance of dental care and showcase friendly dentists.

Reading these books together can help alleviate any fears or anxieties your child may have and make the upcoming visit feel more familiar and less intimidating.

Practice Relaxation Techniques

Teaching your child relaxation techniques can help them feel calm and comfortable during their dental appointment.

Practice deep breathing exercises together, encouraging them to take slow, deep breaths to help relax their body and mind.

You can also try guided imagery, where you guide your child through imagining a peaceful and relaxing place, such as a sunny beach or a quiet forest.

These techniques can help distract your child from any fears or worries they may have and empower them to feel more in control during their dental visit.

Are you struggling to chew through your food? Or are you longing for that smile that can make you look 20 years younger?

Perhaps dental implants could be the move for you.

Today, I am going to answer some of the most frequently asked questions that people ask me in the clinic.

Let’s bring you a brighter smile that lasts a lifetime.

Understanding Dental Implants

What are they?

Before we jump into the nitty-gritty details about the lifespan of dental implants, let’s first understand what they are and how they can potentially transform your smile and quality of life.

Dental implants are advanced, permanent tooth replacement solutions that mimic the natural look and function of your real teeth. They consist of three main components:

  1. Implant: A titanium post surgically implanted into your jawbone, acting as a sturdy anchor for the replacement tooth.
  2. Abutment: The connector piece that links the implant to the replacement tooth.
  3. Crown: The visible part of the implant, custom-made to match your natural teeth in color, shape, and size.

Implants not only fill the gaps left by missing teeth but also preserve the strength and structure of your jawbone.

The best part?

They’re a long-term solution for those seeking to regain the full function and aesthetics of their smile

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

Implant costs can vary depending on various factors, including the number of implants needed, and the materials used for the crowns.

In the UK, the cost of a single implant can vary, and it’s wise to contact your preferred provider for a more accurate estimate.

However, keep in mind that this estimate might not include additional expenses, such as X-rays, consultations, and potential bone grafts if your jawbone lacks sufficient density to support the implant.

The good news is the majority of clinics also offer financing options to help you manage the expenses more comfortably.

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

Now, let’s address the core question: How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to be a durable, long-term solution for missing teeth.

Their lifespan can vary depending on various factors, but with proper care and maintenance, they can last a lifetime.

Here are some of the key factors that influence the longevity of dental implants:

Oral Hygiene

Just like natural teeth, dental implants require regular brushing, flossing, and routine dental check-ups.

Maintaining excellent oral hygiene is crucial to prevent infections and ensure the implants remain in good condition.

Diet And Lifestyle

Sugar is the devil!

A balanced diet and lifestyle choices play a significant role in the longevity of dental implants.

Avoiding excessive consumption of sugary or acidic foods and quitting smoking can enhance the implant’s lifespan.

Bone Density

The success of dental implants depends on the density and quality of your jawbone.

If you have a healthy jawbone, the implant is more likely to integrate successfully, ensuring a longer-lasting solution.

Professional Care

Selecting an experienced and qualified oral surgeon or implant specialist is essential.

A skilled practitioner can ensure proper implant placement and minimize the risk of complications.

In summary, while dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime, their longevity depends on various factors, including your oral hygiene practices, overall health, and lifestyle choices.

With proper care and maintenance, many individuals enjoy the benefits of implants for decades.

Do You Want A Brighter Smile?

Dental implants offer a transformative solution for those seeking to restore their smiles and regain their confidence.

If you’ve chosen to straighten your teeth with aligners, congratulations! You’re on your way to a healthier, more confident smile.

However, it’s essential not to forget that your oral health is just as important during this process.

Adapting your oral care routine to accommodate your aligners can be a bit of a challenge, but don’t worry—we’ve got your back.

In this post, we’ll share five essential tips to care for your teeth while wearing aligners, ensuring your smile remains bright and healthy throughout your orthodontic journey.

So, let’s dive in and explore how you can maintain top-notch oral hygiene, even with aligners.

Brush And Floss Regularly

Brushing and flossing regularly is a critical step in caring for your teeth while wearing aligners.

When you wear aligners, food particles can easily get trapped between your teeth and the aligner, creating a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. This can lead to tooth decay and gum disease if not addressed promptly.

Brushing at least twice a day and flossing once daily helps remove these food particles and prevents the build-up of plaque.

By maintaining this regimen, you not only care for your teeth while wearing aligners but also ensure that your newly straightened teeth are as healthy as they are attractive.

Clean Your Aligners

Just as it is necessary to care for your teeth while wearing aligners, it’s equally important to keep your aligners clean.

Aligners are in direct contact with your teeth for extended periods, and they can easily accumulate bacteria, plaque, and food particles.

If not cleaned regularly, these contaminants can transfer back onto your teeth, negating your diligent oral hygiene efforts.

Furthermore, dirty aligners can lead to oral issues such as bad breath and discoloured teeth.

Therefore, taking time to clean your aligners daily helps maintain not only the effectiveness of your orthodontic treatment but also your overall oral health.

Avoid Eating And Drinking With Your Aligners In

Avoiding eating and drinking with your aligners is crucial when it comes to the care of your teeth while wearing aligners.

Consuming food and drinks, especially those that are acidic or coloured, can stain your aligners, making them less transparent and more noticeable. Beyond aesthetics, food particles and drinks can also get trapped between your aligners and teeth, leading to potential decay and bad breath.

Moreover, chewing while wearing your aligners can cause unnecessary stress, potentially leading to cracks or even breaks in the aligner material.

This can compromise the effectiveness of your treatment and could lead to additional costs if replacement aligners are needed.

Therefore, to maintain the integrity of your aligners and your oral health, it’s best to remove them before eating or drinking anything other than water.

Rinse After A Meal

Rinsing your mouth with water after a meal plays a significant role in caring for your teeth while wearing aligners.

This simple yet effective practice flushes out leftover food particles that may otherwise get trapped between your teeth and aligners, reducing the risk of plaque buildup and tooth decay.

Furthermore, rinsing aids in neutralizing harmful acids that could otherwise erode tooth enamel, paving the way for cavities.

So, before you reinsert your aligners post-mealtime, take a moment to rinse thoroughly.

This easy step is a great addition to your routine to care for your teeth while wearing aligners, helping to ensure a beautiful, healthy smile at the end of your treatment.

Wear Your Aligner For The Correct Amount Of Time

Adhering to the prescribed wear time is paramount in your journey to care for your teeth while wearing aligners. The usual recommended amount of time to wear your aligners each day is typically around 20 to 22 hours.

This consistent wear time assists in the gradual, controlled movement of your teeth to their desired positions.

Neglecting to wear your aligners for the correct amount of time can impede progress, prolong treatment time, and may even negatively impact your oral health.

Therefore, by ensuring you wear your aligners as directed, you prioritise optimal treatment outcomes as well as the care for your teeth while wearing aligners.

Welcome to our comprehensive blog post that dives deep into the world of fast braces using aligners!

In this post, we will explore the four greatest benefits of using these innovative orthodontic appliances, ranging from unrivalled convenience to unparalleled comfort.

We understand that the journey towards a straighter smile may seem daunting, but we are here to clarify the process and provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need.

Indeed, opting for fast braces might just be the best decision you make for your oral health, and we’re here to help you understand why.

Notice Your New Smile Faster

The expedited results are one of the key benefits that make fast braces using aligners a popular choice. Unlike traditional braces, which can take multiple years to yield visible results, fast braces can bring about a noticeable change in your smile in a significantly shorter timeframe.

You can start to see improvements in your smile as early as 6 weeks into the treatment, with full results typically evident between 6 to 18 weeks.

This means you can start enjoying your new, straighter smile sooner, considerably reducing the length of the orthodontic journey.

As you can insert and remove these braces as much and as often as you want, your results could take a little longer if you need to take them out at points to suit your lifestyle.

Easy And Convenient For You

Fast braces using aligners are designed with user convenience in mind. One of their biggest advantages, as we’ve already mentioned, is their removability.

You can easily take them out and put them back in to accommodate various lifestyle activities, such as sports, eating, or even an important social event.

This flexibility ensures that your orthodontic treatment doesn’t interfere with your daily routine or hinder your lifestyle.

Additionally, the appearance of fast braces is much less conspicuous compared to traditional metal braces. They’re virtually invisible and offer a softer look, which can help boost your confidence during your treatment.

Therefore, you don’t have to worry as much about your appearance while you’re on your journey to a straighter smile.

More Comfortable

Fast braces using aligners are notably more comfortable than their traditional counterparts because they are custom-made to fit over each patient’s teeth snugly and comfortably.

With traditional metal braces, you may experience discomfort, or even pain, due to the pressure of the metal wires and brackets against your gums and inner mouth.

Plus, there’s always a risk of mouth sores and injuries from broken wires or loose brackets.

In contrast, fast braces are made from smooth, clear plastic that doesn’t have any sharp edges to cause irritation. They exert gentle pressure on your teeth, making the process of realigning your teeth less painful and more tolerable.

Also, since they’re removable, you can give your mouth a break whenever needed, which simply isn’t an option with permanently affixed metal braces.

Furthermore, fast braces are designed to move teeth gradually and continuously, reducing the initial discomfort experienced when traditional braces are tightened. Thus, the level of comfort you experience during your orthodontic journey with fast braces is unparalleled.

This makes them a superior choice for patients seeking both efficiency and comfort in their teeth-straightening solution.

Starts The Path To A Great New Smile

Undoubtedly, fast braces using aligners can be the catalyst to your journey towards a radiant new smile. They are versatile and can effectively serve as a standalone treatment or as the first step in a broader cosmetic dental plan.

When your teeth are misaligned, it can hinder the effectiveness of other cosmetic treatments like whitening and bonding. By opting for fast braces, your teeth are first straightened, laying the groundwork for subsequent treatments.

Post-alignment, teeth whitening procedures can better access all surfaces of your teeth, leading to a more uniform brightness.

Similarly, bonding procedures get a better grip on the straightened teeth, making the bonding last longer.

Thus, choosing fast braces not only accelerates the journey to a straighter smile but also paves the way for further enhancement of your oral aesthetic, if you so desire.

This comprehensive, phased approach to smile enhancement ensures that each step complements the next, leading to a final result that is nothing short of dazzling. Hence, with fast braces, you are setting the stage for a transformative smile journey that guarantees to deliver an impressive, healthy, and radiant smile.

Picture it, you’ve just finished your teeth whitening treatment and it’s been successful! You now have a dazzling white smile you want to last forever.

But how do you look after your brand-new smile?

You’re in the right place! After having your treatments done, it’s important to maintain your results for as long as possible, so in this blog post, we’ll go over all of our top tips on how to keep those pearly whites shining after your teeth whitening treatment.

From learning about foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, to ways of keeping up your dental routine, we’ve got everything you need to know so you can stay confident in your teeth.

Use Sensitive Toothpaste For Sensitivity Issues

If you’ve recently undergone the process of whitening your teeth, it’s not uncommon to experience some sensitivity afterwards. But you shouldn’t let that stop you from maintaining your smile!

If you start to feel sensitivity in your teeth, we would recommend you use sensitive toothpaste to alleviate your discomfort. Filling your tray with sensitive toothpaste an hour before bed can help to eliminate any uncomfortable twinges and will keep your smile looking white!

The same can be said if you rub sensitive toothpaste onto the affected area before you brush. Taking care of your teeth right after a whitening treatment and using the right toothpaste can help you maintain your smile long into the future without any setbacks.

Avoid Foods That Could Stain Your Teeth

Unfortunately, after a teeth whitening treatment, you might have to forfeit some of your favourite foods!

Certain foods and drinks such as red wine, coffee, tea and acidic fruits such as oranges and lemons should be avoided for 1-2 weeks after your treatment.

Other foods that contain heavy colour pigments such as strawberries or chocolate should be avoided too as these stains could undo the hard work to get your whitened smile.

Opt for foods and drinks that are colourless or white such as cauliflower, chicken or still water.

Use Straws

One of the best tips we can give if you can’t live without your morning coffee is to drink it through a straw.

When you drink through a straw, the liquid shouldn’t touch your teeth, but there’s always a chance you get a coffee stain on your new smile so proceed with caution!

You can also use a straw for liquid foods such as soup which could either stain your teeth or could impact any sensitivity you might be experiencing after the whitening process.

Brush Regularly

This tip is self-explanatory for people who already look after their teeth, but in order to keep your pearly white smile shining bright, it’s even more important to keep brushing your teeth regularly.

For the first couple of weeks, you may want to consider brushing your teeth more often than your usual twice a day if you’re concerned you might end up staining your teeth from foods or just want to ensure you’re keeping on top of them.

You might also want to floss a little more often in the beginning in case any foods that have a high colour concentration get stuck in your teeth and cause staining.

Choose Top Ups

With teeth whitening treatments, maintaining your smile isn’t always enough, you may need a top-up every now and then to make sure your teeth stay white and you stay confident in your smile!

It’s also worth having regular check-ups with your dentist to see how your teeth are doing after the whitening process so you can get peace of mind that your teeth are healthy and white and that you’re doing everything you can to maintain your smile.

Are You Thinking About Getting Your Teeth Whitened?

Are you tired of feeling awkward smiling in photos because your teeth aren’t as white as you want them to be? Teeth whitening could be the answer you’ve been looking for!

Right now at The Barn Dental Clinic, we’re currently offering you the chance to feel more confident about the teeth whitening process with a free telephone consultation. Opt for Professional Dental Whitening Instead

As a private dental clinic in Salisbury, we’ve dedicated our lives to the care, treatment, and maintenance of beautiful, healthy smiles. Often, we’re asked about over-the-counter teeth whitening products, notably the Crest Teeth Whitening Strips.

Although such products seem appealing due to their accessibility and affordability, they might not always be the best choice for you. Read on to find out why.

What are Crest Whitening Strips?

A popular over-the-counter teeth whitening product, they are thin, flexible strips coated with a peroxide-based whitening gel. You apply them to your teeth by simply sticking the strips onto the surface. The gel on the strips then works to break down stains on the tooth enamel through an oxidation process.

Once applied, the peroxide in the strips penetrates the tooth enamel and breaks down the discoloured molecules that cause the stains. By altering these molecules, the strips lighten the appearance of the stains and make your teeth appear whiter.

While this method is easy to use, it suffers from several drawbacks:

Limited effectiveness

Crest Whitening Strips, and similar products, only cover the front six teeth, thereby giving you limited whitening results. Teeth at the back remain untouched, causing uneven colouration.

On the contrary, professional dental whitening provides comprehensive, even results. Dentists tailor the whitening procedures to each patient’s needs, ensuring all teeth—front and back—are evenly whitened.

Risk of tooth sensitivity and gum irritation

Because Crest Whitening Strips involve the application of a peroxide-based gel on your teeth, this gel can sometimes seep into your gums and lead to gum irritation. Moreover, it can permeate the tooth enamel and reach the nerves, causing tooth sensitivity.

In contrast, dentists like us utilise professional-grade whitening agents while ensuring the gums are properly protected. White Dental Beauty tooth whitening gels contain an active sensitivity management formula, along with a unique mild gel for sensitive teeth. This ultimately minimises the risk of gum irritation or tooth sensitivity.

One size does not fit all

Teeth whitening strips are designed as a one-size-fits-all product. But, every person’s dental structure is unique. Ill-fitting strips can lead to inconsistent whitening, and the bleaching agent might not fully contact the tooth surface.

When you opt for professional whitening, your dentist will apply the whitening agent using a bespoke whitening tray that fits your unique dental structure, ensuring optimal results.

Doesn’t address underlying dental issues

Over-the-counter whitening strips do nothing to address underlying dental problems that could be causing discoloration, such as cavities or tooth decay. This could potentially aggravate these problems, leading to more severe issues down the line.

When you choose professional whitening, your dentist will perform a comprehensive examination before treatment to identify any underlying oral health issues that need to be addressed first. That way you won’t be ignoring any underlying problems which could potentially be worsened by increased sensitivity.

No professional guidance

When using Crest Whitening Strips, you are essentially on your own. You might have questions or face difficulties, but there’s no professional to guide you. Overuse or incorrect use of these strips can lead to harmful dental issues that could cause bigger problems in the future.

On the other hand, professional dental whitening offers the expertise of trained dentists. They guide you through the process, answer your queries, and ensure the procedure is done correctly and safely.

Lack of lasting results

While Crest Whitening Strips might initially offer visible results, they are often short-lived, especially if you consume staining foods or drinks or smoke.

Dental professionals not only provide a more long-lasting whitening solution but also offer advice and products to maintain the whitening results. For example, our custom-fitted whitening trays are comfortable and made for you, giving you predictable and consistent results in as little as 1 – 2 weeks.

Why choose The Barn Dental for teeth whitening

While at-home teeth whitening solutions might offer convenience, nothing compares to the relaxing, luxurious environment of our dental clinic, The Barn.

Our practice, housed in a beautifully converted barn amidst the serene countryside of Odstock near Salisbury, offers more than just dental treatments – it’s a haven where we celebrate smiles. We recognise your smile as one of your greatest assets and we have committed ourselves to make every dental visit enjoyable and rewarding for you.

When you opt to get your teeth whitened at The Barn, you’re not just choosing a dental procedure. You’re choosing an experience – an opportunity to relax and pamper yourself in a tranquil setting, all while enhancing your smile under the expert care of our dental professionals.

While Crest Whitening Strips might be a quick, affordable option, they can’t match the effectiveness, safety, and lasting results offered by professional dental whitening.

Before you reach for that box of whitening strips, consider scheduling a consultation at our dental clinic in Salisbury. Our team of experienced dentists will help you achieve that perfect, pearly white smile you’ve always dreamed of.

And everything you need to know about implants

When it comes to dentistry, one of the most significant challenges people face is tooth loss. Whether due to decay, gum disease or injury, missing teeth can affect our confidence and overall quality of life.

Thankfully, modern dentistry presents a solution that goes beyond traditional dentures and bridges; dental implants. Read on to find out more about what they are, what benefits they can offer, the cost, and how to get in touch.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a cutting-edge alternative for those who have lost teeth. The modern titanium dental implant was pioneered by Swedish orthopaedic surgeon Per-Ingvar Brånemark. He discovered the concept of osseointegration, where titanium can fuse with bone, during research in the 1950s.

The procedure involves inserting a titanium screw into the jawbone, which serves as a stable base for the artificial tooth, replicating the look, feel, and function of natural teeth.

The benefits of dental implants

How dental implants can change your life for the better

Living with missing teeth can deeply impact your self-esteem and confidence. The constant worry about your appearance when you laugh, talk, or eat can feel overwhelming, affecting your social life and overall happiness. The practical issues of struggling to eat certain foods or speak clearly only add to the distress.

The negative implications go beyond the aesthetic, as the lack of teeth can lead to the deterioration of your jawbone over time. Traditional dentures or bridges might provide a short-term solution, but they come with their own set of problems. They may slip or move, causing embarrassment, and they don’t prevent the loss of bone density.

Dental implants offer a revolutionary solution. Imagine laughing, eating, and living your life with a new-found self-assuredness, thanks to your radiant, healthy smile. With dental implants, this dream can become your reality.

How much do dental implants cost at The Barn Dental Clinic

Our dental implants are priced from £2500 per unit. Here at The Barn Dental Clinic, we only use the trusted Straumann Implant System, which features the very best implants and components. This, combined with our extensive experience in implantology gives you complete security and peace of mind in the long-term.

Finance options to spread the cost of your dental implants

We offer our dental implant clients 0% financing, allowing you to enjoy the treatment you want immediately while spreading the cost with affordable repayments.

What does our dental implant procedure involve

  1. Extensive planning prior to your treatment

The majority of the work goes into the planning stages of your treatment, to ensure the procedure of the actual chair-side surgery is relatively quick and straightforward. Dr Loukas has his own laboratory where he works closely with technicians using superior ceramics and composite materials.

  1. Local anaesthesia to assist your experience

During the short surgical process, a comfortable local anaesthetic is carefully administered to ensure you are fully numb. This means you should feel very little to no discomfort.

  1. 3 – 6 months healing process

Depending on our evaluation, you could leave with a temporary tooth/set of teeth whilst you are healing (which will take 3 – 6 months). Dr. Zeck will put the final restoration in once all your bones and gums are healed and stable – to give you the best possible outcome.

  1. Your natural smile restored

Enjoy your brand new smile with ease and confidence.

Some FAQs about dental implants

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Most people who are in good general health and have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or for some other reason may be good candidates for dental implants. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant.

How long do dental implants last?

With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last for many years, and often for a lifetime. The crown placed on the implant may need replacement after 10-15 years due to wear and tear.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Dental implants require the same care as real teeth, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups.

Skinpen Microneedling (£150 per session)

Discover the secret to reducing the visible signs of ageing with our Skinpen Microneedling treatment. Using a medical-grade microneedling device, we stimulate your skin’s natural healing response, leading to a production surge in collagen and elastin. These are the key elements in maintaining skin elasticity, firmness, and a youthful glow.

This treatment improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, enlarged pores and sun damage.

WOW Fusion Microneedling and Mesotherapy (£200 per session)

Get ready to say “wow” to your skin’s transformation with our WOW Fusion Microneedling and Mesotherapy treatment. This cutting-edge approach combines the benefits of microneedling and mesotherapy to enhance skin rejuvenation.

Our practitioners create a personalised cocktail serum for your skin, which is delivered directly to where it’s needed most via 20 ultra-fine gold plated titanium needles. This results in a powerful rejuvenation at the cellular level, addressing a wide spectrum of skin issues, including fine lines, wrinkles, rosacea, redness, open pores, oily skin, dehydrated skin, hyperpigmentation, dull skin, and acne.

Chemical Exfoliation 35% TCA (£63 per session)

Chemical Exfoliation, also known as a Trichloroacetic (TCA) peel, is a game-changer when it comes to restoring your skin’s natural radiance. This light chemical peel is highly effective in tackling pigmentation irregularities like sun-damaged skin and discoloration from pregnancy.

The TCA peel also assists in improving the appearance of wrinkles and other sun damage signs. By promoting the renewal of skin cells, the treatment aids in reducing acne and shrinking enlarged pores, leaving your skin looking refreshed and revitalised.

Dermaplane (£40 per session)

Experience the instant gratification of a smoother, brighter complexion with our Dermaplane treatment. Using a sterile, surgical scalpel, our expert therapists gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top layer of dead skin along with fine, peach fuzz.

The result? An immediate improvement in skin texture and tone, less visible lines, and a flawless canvas for makeup application. This physical exfoliation method reveals a healthier, more radiant complexion that you’ll love.

Dermal Fillers (from £150)

Redefine your facial contours with our Dermal Fillers. These injections, made from natural substances, are designed to soften deep-set wrinkles, laugh lines, and crow’s feet, or to add volume to areas such as lips or cheeks.

By replacing lost collagen and stimulating new collagen growth, dermal fillers offer a natural, youthful appearance, restoring facial volume and plumpness. Whether you want to enhance your lips, refresh your facial contours, or smooth out lines and wrinkles, our dermal fillers offer an immediate and long-lasting solution.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment (from £230)

Healthy Teeth, Happy Smiles

It’s that time of year again! National Smile Month is an annual campaign dedicated to promoting good oral health, and raising awareness about the importance of healthy teeth and gums. It is organised by the Oral Health Foundation to raise awareness of important health issues and this year will be from May 15th – June 15th.

We are helping to make a positive difference to the oral health of millions of people by supporting this campaign, and letting our patients hear their important oral health messages.

Read on for more tips and tricks to keep your teeth healthy this month and beyond.

The theme of National Smile Month 2023

This year’s theme is ‘Brush for better health’. Twice daily toothbrushing is the cornerstone to good oral health. It removes plaque from the surfaces of our teeth, preventing build up which can cause tooth decay.

There will be a focus each week for the next four months for tips on how to keep your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy.

Dental care tips for a healthy smile

Although most people brush regularly, many don’t clean between their teeth and some people don’t have regular dental check-ups. A few small changes in your daily routine can make a big difference in the long term.

Removing plaque and bits of food from around your teeth is important as this will stop your gums from becoming inflamed. Tartar is what plaque will turn into when it hardens, which can only be removed by a dental team. You can use the tools you have at home to keep up a daily dental routine, including your toothbrush, toothpaste and floss.

Oral health for different age groups

Children’s teeth – You should start taking your children to the dentist as soon as possible, primarily to get them used to the noises, smells and overall dental environment. This will help prevent dental anxiety in the future.

Once all the teeth have appeared, use a toothbrush with a small head and soft bristles in small, circular movements and try to concentrate on one section at a time.

Teens’ teeth – If you are drinking fizzy drinks, try to use a straw. It is also important to remember to wear a professionally made mouthguard whenever you play any sport that involves contact or moving objects.

Older people – As we get older, our gums may start to recede. However, you are not certain to lose your teeth in old age. Ask your dentist about the best brushing methods or recommended mouthwashes for sensitive gums and teeth.
